Earlier this week we were delighted to be able to send out cheques to 16 families of children with a life limiting condition across 8 Counties from Kerry to Laois.

All of these families are under severe financial pressure brought on by the non medical costs associated with caring for their child and staying with them or attending at hospital while receiving treatment.

These costs include accommodation, travel, car parking , specialist equipment and childcare costs for siblings at home. The children in these families range in age from 7 months to 16 years or age and are inpatients & outpatients in a number of hospitals including  Our Ladies Childrens Hospital Crumlin, Temple Street, University Hospital Limerick, Wexford General and University Hospital Cork.

One child is currently on a heart transplant list while another is scheduled to undergo brain surgery this month. A number of the children are undergoing chemotherapy which will continue over a period of months and in some cases years.

The impact of the financial support we provide was reinforced within 24 hours of the cheques being posted through numerous wonderful thank you messages and calls.

We could not have made this happen without the fantastic support we have received over the past number of months. People have ran and walked marathons, climbed mountains, organised table quizzes and helped us out in so many other wonderful and generous  ways.

Sadly we still have 25 more families on our waiting list all of whom are eligible for our support and expect this to double before the year is out

If you can help us help any of those families we would love to hear from you on [email protected] or by calling 061 – 331333. You can also donate online by clicking here
