Cliona’s in the company of Limerick Hurler Shane Dowling and  Live 95 recently launched the Charity’s 12th Annual Fundraising Cycle which takes place on the 31st August

This year Cliona’s is one of the beneficiaries of the Live 95 Helping Limerick Children campaign together with CARI and the Children’s Grief Centre.

The proceeds from this year’s cycle will go to the Helping Limerick Children Campaign so a special call is being made to make a huge effort to take part in a very memorable day, remembering and helping some exceptional children.

Limerick Hurler Shane Dowling was delighted to launch the cycle as he has recently come on board as an Ambassador for Cliona’s.

“I really admire the work of Cliona’s and the much needed support they provide to families.  I personally know Brendan & Terry Ring and I am amazed and humbled by their continuous commitment to supporting families of seriously sick children despite losing their only daughter Cliona over 12 years ago. I am also familiar with the fantastic services provided by CARI and the Children’s Grief Centre to children and their families at a very vulnerable time in their lives so I would urge people to get on their bikes and make a special effort that will make a big difference.”

“As part of the Limerick Hurling team I have been blessed to experience unbelievable support and encouragement over the past number of months and also over the past 2 weeks that has just blown us away. But it is these Charities and the families and children they support that are the real stars for their energy, commitment, strength , tenacity and determination. While it is fantastic to win titles and tough to lose them, at the end of the day it’s a game and when you look at the struggles others are going through it gives perspective.”

“I think it is important to give back in any way you can if possible and I would encourage people to dust down their bikes and get all the family out cycling to help support Limerick Children.  Getting on the bike for an hour is only a small gesture but if a few hundred more did the same it would make a big difference to a lot of families and children.”

The cycle will take place this year on Saturday August 31st  from Bruff Rugby Club, just 25km from Limerick city.

It is a fantastic family day out with something for all ages and all levels of fitness and ability.

There is the 10km for kiddies and beginners, a 40km family/leisure cycle and the 90km Cliona’s Challenge – the event caters for cyclists of all levels of ability.

On finishing the cycle participants can look forward to plenty of food from the famous BBQ, while the kids will be kept entertained with the bouncy castle and more.
